October and Libra season is all about balance, change, harvest and relationship. The astrological sign of Libra signifies harmony in our lives and relationships. We also work with other Goddess archetypes in this guidebook, like Aphrodite (Greek Mythology) to channel beauty, romance, and sensuality; Iris (Greek Mythology) to channel diplomacy and connection between realms; Hecate (Greek Mythology) to channel discernment, confronting problems, and wisdom; and Cerridwen (Celtic Mythology) to channel harvest, magic, and transformation. During October, the light and dark start to become equal in our day. We learn to balance our time more between work and rest. There is an abundance of nourishing food during this time to help prepare our minds and bodies for the cold and darkness of the coming seasons. This is when we can really focus on what truly nourishes us as that is important for what we are taking into the winter season. We do not need to fear or feel down about the approaching winter season. Instead it is a time to truly connect with ourselves, and what truly gives us sustenance and energy.

In this workbook, we will use the Libra archetype to help put us on the track of our dream lives and career, and how she can help us declutter and organize our lives, and look at it with a detailed, analytical eye that sets us up for success. We will also use the other goddess archetypes of this season, pulling from Greek and Celtic mythology. We will see which ones resonate with us and which ones have lessons for us during this season. They will teach us what we need to focus and work on during this season to manifest our goals, and find our abundance.

Included in this workbook, if you want to go deeper, are astrological dates to look out for, journal prompts, herbal and nutritional guidance that follows the season, activities and health tips for October, and affirmations that you can use.

This workbook merges the whimsy and ambition within all women. No longer do we have to only be corporate climbing, business-owning boss babes, or innocent and naive, field-frolicking girls. We can use our feminine power of intuition, magic, self-exploration, and wonder to achieve our ambitious and lofty goals in a way that feels natural, authentic, and true to ourselves. This workbook helps ambitious women who grew up in a hustle culture to use their connection to self and the earth to achieve a life that is not only purposeful in their career, but in all aspects to their being.

Intention Work

If you only want a small taste of this workbook, do only this activity with intention work as it is very powerful in helping you achieve what you want in your life

Intentional Tip 1: Focus on coming back to balance and harmony in your life

It is officially the fall season now as we have fully exited the summer months. Life may feel hectic this time of year, as it is back to school time and generally because of the school system, we treat this as almost a start to our year. So this is a great time to also remember the benefit of balance and harmony in our lives. Just as the scales of Libra will always tip back and forth, full balance is very rarely ever achieved fully in our lives. But we can channel Libra’s energy of harmonious living by looking at our schedules and refining them to see where we can add some more balance.

Task: Spend one focused hour or two looking at your schedule and refining it to see where it can be a bit more balanced. Start small. Don’t have enough family time? Take 5 minutes away from your work for an extra call once a week. Need more time to connect with yourself? Take 5 minutes before bed for journaling instead of phone time. Balance starts with small acts of integration. The intention is never to overwhelm yourself with more tasks. Look at small areas you can cut down to add in things or activities you need.

Intentional Tip 2: Focus on community building

We are exiting the lightness and warmth of the summer months, and have now transitioned into the darker months of the year. Libra energy is all about connection and relationships with others. Our community and connections are very important for the darker months of the year as they can help support us through. Life may start to feel heavier or harder when the blistering cold of winter comes so it is very important that we prepare our social connections now, so they are strong when we enter more difficult seasons. It is not just our social community, but if we prepare our work connections and network for the winter seasons, we will also benefit as that will bring us more sustenance in our work life as well. So make sure you are tending to your connections during this season. There are other seasons where turning inward is important, but the energy of Libra is all about an abundance of connection with others.

Task: Add only 1-2 extra social activities to your life per week in October. They can be very small, like an extra call to a family member per week, or a check in text to someone in your community. Or it could be a date night with your partner, a girls night out, a networking event, an online course with others. Only do what you can. If all you can add in is an extra “how is your day going?” to the barista you see every day. Then do that, it’s ok to start really small. Even those very small acts of connection will help you feel part of a larger community and you will see how this helps regulate your nervous system.

Intentional Tip 3: Build one new work connection

October is a great month for also building new connections. The energy of the month is not only connection to our community, but connection to magic and our abundance. Represented by the Greek goddesses, Iris, who connects the earth to heavenly realms and Carpo, who represents the ripening of fruits and reaping rewards. The energy now is perfect for building a new connection in our work that can help bring us abundance and success. When we use connection and intention, that is how we create magic in our lives. We were never meant to succeed alone. So channel this energy of Iris and Carpo to use connection to create magic in your life during this October season.

Task: Focus intentionally on building one new connection. Pick out one person you would love to build a connection with that is related to your work. Although they may be able to help you, don’t start with that intention. Pure intentions are always better. If it is someone who is older than you or an authority figure, you could try just reaching out and telling them how much you admire their work and wisdom. Maybe it is someone who is more of an equal that you deeply admire, and you could start up a conversation with them or ask them a question on something. Maybe it is someone online who you have been following for years, and you can just comment on their post. The connections we are looking for are usually right under our feet. Don’t make it more complicated than it is. Start a conversation on Instagram. Compliment someone’s work. Ask someone to coffee if they seem friendly and open to new connections. These small connections in our work will slowly build up over time to create the magic and abundance we are seeking.

Intentional Tip 4: Harvest the abundance you have created

Now that we have entered October, we can start reaping the benefits of the peak of harvest season. It is not only in our food crops that we see this abundance. Harvest season is rippling all throughout our lives during this time. By focusing on the abundance that has ripened in your life now, you will create more abundance going forward. We all have abundance in our lives right now, even if we just don’t notice it yet. Maybe we don’t have a lot of money right now, but we have an abundance in our support systems. Maybe we don’t have a lot of friends, but we have an abundance in our work life. Maybe our abundance doesn’t lie in something exterior at the moment, but maybe we have a wild sense of creativity or a passion for a specific activity. That is also a form of abundance! When we focus on that, we tend to cultivate abundance in other areas of our lives. This season though, is about harvesting that abundance. We are not trying to create more during this season. We are looking at where in our lives that abundance is peaking and squeezing out every last bit of it to sustain us through the darkness of the coming seasons.

Task: Spend 10 intentional minutes seeing where the abundance is coming to fruition in your life right now. Once you have found it, harvest it. Pull up the crops of abundance and enjoy them, and savor them. If you have deep social connections, this is the time to really relish those connections and be nurtured by them. If it is a passion for your work, really feel that passion right now. See how it has carried you through life and squeeze out the juice of that passion right now to fuel you. We all have abundance somewhere. Visualize it exactly like the blooming crops of this season. See yourself pulling it from the ground, and being fed and nurtured by this abundance. This will sustain your life force for the winter season.

Intentional Tip 5: Task: Create a harmonious home/work space

Libra is all about harmony and beauty. That can also be applied to our home environment and workspace. A harmonious work and home environment can help our mood, confidence, and even efficiency and productivity. Our environment is actually more important than we think. It can deeply affect our nervous system on the subconscious level. The sounds that are in our space, like construction, can cause aggravation and mental fatigue as opposed to a fountain or a soft stream nearby that can signal to our bodies that we are safe and give us mental clarity. If there is a lot of clutter in our home or workspace, this can cause mental clutter as well. Libra loves harmony in all spaces. This is a great month to find more harmony in the environments that surround us.

Task: Don’t overwhelm yourself. You do not need to do a clothing purge, or an entire deep clean of your house, or completely change up your office space with new furniture. It is in the small habits where the lasting change comes from. Pick only 1-2 things this month that bring more harmony into your workspace. Maybe it is investing in a filing drawer. Maybe it is not allowing food into your office space. Perhaps it is upgrading your desk to something a bit more functional. Or washing the dishes every night before going to bed. Start with something that feels very easy to accomplish, but brings some harmony and mental peace into your environment. Watch how that affects you throughout the day.

Intentional Tip 6: Approach one conflict directly

Libra loves to keep the peace and can be a people pleaser at times. We can use the energy of the Greek Goddess Hecate, who is not afraid to confront any conflict head on. Sometimes, we need to be direct with a situation or person before it can finally be resolved. Since this month is all about our relationships, it is a good month to finally approach a conflict head on to resolve it. Maybe you have been holding back something you really need to say to someone. Maybe you are avoiding something with yourself that you finally need to be honest about. Libra season is the perfect time to resolve an issue. The energy is here to support you in your relationships and help bring more harmony into your social interactions.

Task: Sometimes we don’t even realize we are being dishonest or avoidant in very small ways. Again, we want to start with the small habits. Don’t take the biggest conflict and be head on about it now, unless you feel in your gut that is what you want to work on this month. But I would advise a very small conflict. Maybe a friend picks on an insecurity to be funny, but it always irritates you. You can try saying “I know you are being funny, but it hurts when you joke about that.” Or your boss doesn’t give you the assignments you would really like to do and you can say “I would absolutely love if you could put me on these assignments or jobs.” Or a client calls you regularly late at night while you are with your family, and you say “I care so much about your project, please contact me before this time so I can give it my full attention.” Even the small things can feel scary, but when you start speaking up for yourself, you will see how confidence you start to have in yourself, and it becomes easier and easier! Then the bigger conflicts won’t feel as scary to deal with head on!

Go Further:

If you want to go further into your self-exploration, living with the seasons, and growing your business intentionally, then come along! These exercises include Goddess archetype work, manifestation, affirmation, rituals, and astrological exercises to help you connect in a deeper way with your inner self and your dream life. It also includes some basic herbal, nutritional, and lifestyle guidance to help support you physically through this month.

Archetypes We Can Work With in September:

Visualize: Where is one area of your life you want to grow or expand in?

Here are the archetypes that represent October:

Libra (Astrology): She is all about balance, harmony, and relationships. She believes strongly in fairness and solving conflict. Libra is all about achieving that perfect balance in life, just like the light and dark of the October season.

When To Call In: If you need more balance and harmony in your life or relationships, you can call in as either an archetype or a Goddess being to guide you.

If You Resonate Most With Her: If you already feel the Libra archetype is within you, then you need to allow a situation to get messy before it can fully resolve. You like perfect balance at all times, but life unfortunately does not operate that way. Which is the beauty of it. But sometimes the messiness is needed to find a better balance. And you also need to realize that it is ok to put yourself first at times. You can be a people pleaser, but you neglect yourself at times and drain your own energy.

Iris (Greek Mythology): She represents the fluent transfer of information, diplomacy, and connection between the disparate realms. She is a bridge builder between the world and spirit realms, as well as a loyal servant to others, and she unifies opposing forces. She is a connecting force that is also spiritually advanced.

When To Call In: If you are needing spiritual connection, wanting to help others more, or use the darkness in your life to bring more light, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.

If You Resonate Most With Her: If you already feel the Iris archetype is within you, and want to balance her more, then you may feel you spend your life serving others. You have the wisdom from realms above, but you tend to give it all to the people around you and not yourself. Give some of that back to yourself. You are allowed to live by your own spiritual wisdom as well. You are the connector of the divine and the earthly, and you help others bridge this connection. Allow yourself access to live by this magic as well.

Aphrodite (Greek Mythology): She is beautiful, loving, and romantic. She cares deeply about aesthetics and connecting sensually with others and the world around her. The world around Aphrodite is her artistic project. Beauty is not just surface level for Aphrodite. It is the deep love and care she puts into something that turns it to gold, in which others see as effortless. Just as the October season brings a splash of colors and crisp, pleasant weather, and the balance of light and dark, it embodies Aphrodite’s nature of peace, balance, and vibrant beauty.

When To Call In: If you are needing more beauty and sensuality in your life, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.

If You Resonate Most With Her: If you feel the Aphrodite archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, you may have let some things in life be ugly and you may also get lost in a land of dreaminess and need to connect to your logic a bit more. You need to find the value in ugliness a bit more. That ugliness makes things more real and human. And that in that, there is even beauty in the ugly. You can be idealistic about life, but sometimes because you are so in touch with your body senses, you forget you also have a powerful mind to help you. You may see yourself as not cerebral or intellectual, but that is not true. You may have been told you can only be one or the other. Your power is in using both. Connecting with your mind will not make you less sensual. It will allow you to make decisions in your life that can enhance your ability for more beauty.

Hecate (Greek Mythology): She is the deeply wise woman that can confront anything. She is very familiar with the shadow side and understands discernment well. Give her any hard decision to make and she will cut through it with laser sharp clarity, never even knowing the concept of being indecisive. Hecate is deeply intuitive, but also has both feet firmly on the ground. Everyone comes to her for wisdom. As we enter October, Hecate prepares us to turn inward, confront the darkness, and surrender whatever is no longer serving our ultimate purpose.

When To Call In: If you are needing to face a really difficult decision, a shadow quality in yourself, or the unknown in your own life, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.

If You Resonate Most With Her: If you feel the Hecate archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, then you need to honor your inner child a bit more. You are probably someone who learned they needed to grow up very fast. This gave you a superpower of deep wisdom and being able to face the hardest challenges. But you may have never grieved the lost childhood. Honor your child self now. Even if you are an adult, allow yourself time and space to be a child again. It may feel silly at first, but once it becomes part of your life, your wisdom, intuition, knowledge, and decision-making will grow even stronger.

Cerridwen (Celtic Mythology): She represents transformation, magic, and the harvest. She is filled with wisdom, intuition, and rebirth. Cerridwen is a shape-shifter. She can adapt and change quickly to different environments and situations. She is also spiritually connected to food. Cerridwen values what food she consumes and she links it to her spiritual connection.

When To Call In: If you are needing more excitement or optimism during seasons of transformation in your life, or if you need to be more adaptable in certain situations, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.

If You Resonate Most With Her: If you feel the Cerridwen archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, then you may need to build a stronger inner identity. You may be amazing at being a social chameleon and connecting with all types of people in every type of environment. But when you get home after a long day of socializing, you may not really know who your true self is. Allow yourself to explore that a little bit. You can still be that amazing shape-shifter of Cerridwen energy, but also get to know yourself a little more. Don’t create an identity. See what identity comes through when you are not being influenced by the outer world.

Exercises To Work With Goddess Archetypes:

Visualizations:

Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths in and out. Very clearly picture the Goddess you are calling in. If you want to imagine yourself as her, picture yourself as clearly as you can in the form of that Goddess. If you want her to guide you, picture her as clearly as you can as a separate being. Take time for her full form to appear. If you are picturing yourself as that Goddess, how do you act as that archetype? How do you feel? If you are picturing her as a separate being, what does she want to tell you? What piece of guidance can she offer you? Once you feel you have completed the visualization, you can open your eyes, and reflect on the experience. Think about what you can take from it. How can you channel that archetype in your everyday life to achieve your dreams? How can you use the Goddess’ guidance to feel safe and protected in getting what you desire?

You can use this exercise as often as you would like, and it may be very different each time. It shows you that everything you seek is within you, and what starts as a vision can be made manifest into the physical.

Journal:

Spend about 15 minutes journaling on the Goddess you are calling in or asking for guidance. Or if you want to balance an archetype, journal how you would like to find balance within you. Don’t overly control your writing. Let whatever flow onto the page as you reflect on the Goddess. The more open you are, the more the answers will appear in your writing. After you finish, read what you wrote and see if anything new clicks for you.

Ritual:

To go even deeper with the Goddess energy, you can do a ritual to bring her to life or to balance her. Rituals are very powerful because they are not mind only exercises. They include full sensory experiences to work with intention setting in the entire body and nervous system which will implant even deeper than mind-based exercises. Embodying the colors, aromas, and tastes of the Goddess helps to feel that energy flowing through you that you wish to channel. Go as full out as you want, by either putting on one accessory that represents her, or dress in an outfit that embodies her to you. You can do this either in a sacred place indoors or outside. Use a scent that represents your Goddess. Earthy, cleansing, or florals for Virgo; Dirt, grass, or grain for Demeter; blooming florals, pomegranate, and earthy for Persephone; Olive, earthy, or clean herbal scents for Athena; Deep earth, fresh wood, or grains for Tailtiu. Take a moment to breathe the scent in deeply. If you like to work with stones or objects in ritual work you can do so. You can also purchase a stone, bracelet, necklace, etc. that represents the Goddess you want to embody to carry the reminder with you; Blue Sapphire for Virgo; Peridot and emerald for Demter; Garnet for Persephone; Lapis Lazuli for Athena; Green Aventurine or Tiger’s Eye for Tailtiu. You can hold the stone or object and close your eyes as you visualize the Goddess clearly. Feel yourself embodying her and her wisdom. To close your ritual work, you can brew a tea that represents your Goddess to cleanse your system, clear away the old, and call in your intentions; White tea, green tea, or chai for Virgo; Barley or earthy tea for Demeter; Pomegranate, rose, or jasmine for Persephone; Olive leaf, Rosemary, or Gotu Kola for Athena; Chamomile, calendula, or lemon balm for Tailtiu. You can also use any of these tools daily to channel the Goddess archetype. Or even walk through the day with her energy if it resonates with you.

Healthy Lifestyle Habits For October:

Healthy habits are all the talk nowadays, but we need different things during different months for our bodies and minds. By living with the seasons, we can get a lot more out of these healthy habits.

Getting outside early in the morning: Setting a healthy circadian rhythm during this month is very important for the months ahead. Winter can cause sleep issues for a lot of people, so setting your circadian rhythm now can help get your hormones into a healthy cycle before we hit the winter months. Getting outside when you first wake up is a great way to set your circadian rhythm, as the bright sunlight will signal to your body it is time to be awake. This will also give you more energy for the day ahead.

Outdoor Physical Activities: October is still pretty warm overall, and even on chillier days, exercising outside is still enjoyable. Endurance exercise will be best in October as it is starting to get too cold for activities like yoga, stretching or pilates outdoors. Jogging, hiking, and biking are great fall activities.

Exercise To Sweat: The summer months make it difficult to do strenuous exercise because of the heat. And we should probably not push our bodies during that time anyways, as it creates more exhaustion and dehydration during the summer months. But fall is an amazing time for physically strenuous activities because of the cooler weather. The intense exercise can actually be a great mood booster for the fall season, help warm our body up, and induce sweating which is great for our body. Running, hot yoga, weight lifting, long distance bike riding, and HIIT classes are all great during this season.

Matching your rhythm with the sun: Try starting your morning around when the sun rises (but let yourself sleep as long as needed), and more importantly, try to start winding down when the sun sets. Use warm, non-overhead lighting, limiting communication with others, and focusing on more calming activities or tasks in the evening to help your body settle down for the night.

Make a non-caffeinated tea in the evening: October is a great month to get into the routine of making and drinking a nightly herbal tea. Not only is it soothing to our nervous system, but if we have high quality teas and herbs, it is very beneficial for our overall health and immunity. As the season gets darker and colder, this can help our overall health and vitality, and preparing in October can help our immune system prepare a bit better for cold and flu season.

Start your day with a nourishing breakfast: A hearty breakfast can help give you energy in the fall season. Our body needs more sustenance during this season as the days get colder and darker. Usually our appetite increases in the fall as temperatures drop. A nice hearty breakfast can help us start the day with energy and encourage healthy digestion throughout the day. Breakfasts like oatmeal, local eggs/tofu scrambles, or avocado toast are all good options.

Nurture Connections: Nourishing close relationships is important during this time. Feeling loved and supported will help our mood as we enter the colder and darker seasons. We may feel tempted to isolate during this time, but our connections can actually give us energy and safety. Focus on the relationships that make you feel good and peaceful. If you can’t see them, at least try to call them on the phone regularly. We sometimes don’t realize how important these connections can be to our overall wellbeing.

Homemade Soups: This is a great month to make some homemade soups. Our body starts to crave warmth around this time. The warmth will help provide our bodies with feelings of safety and using soups is a great way to do this and is also nourishing as well. Soups can be a great way to build up our immunity and stock up on many vitamins and minerals in one meal. Experiment with the herbs and veggies recommended above that are in season. These will help your mood, health, and vitality during this season.

Romanticizing October (Enjoying the First Month of Fall While Working Hard on Your Career):

Some recommended activities to romanticize the season and balance life and work

Drink warm seasonal beverages: Drink or make warm seasonal beverages. Even though it is something small, it can help us romanticize and enjoy the season. You can buy pumpkin or cinnamon lattes, or for a more cost effective option, you can easily make these at home. Even adding a little bit of cinnamon and milk to your coffee can be enough to romanticize the season.

Take a fall hike: People always think summer is the season for hiking, but fall is an amazing time to go on a hike. The leaves are changing and the air is crisp. It is a magical time to go for a hike.

Decorate your house or apartment: To romanticize the season, you can decorate your space. Either fall or Halloween decorations can be so much fun to put up around your house and it makes your space feel more festive. You can even do it cost effectively. All you need is a couple of pumpkins, some brown and dark red flowers, and an orange or brown throw blanket, and you’ve got the fall vibe going in your home!

Attend a fall festival: There are a lot of fall festivals going on that are welcoming in the fall season. These are a fun way to celebrate the season with a community. When we celebrate the seasons, we feel grateful for the unique gift each one brings.

Wear cozy clothes: Wear clothes that feel comfortable, soft, and cozy. Not just sweat pants and a sweatshirts. You can even invest in one really nice fall set that you feel luxurious in. Or pick out nice sweaters and scarves to wear. Dressing ourselves in nice clothes is not something of only vanity. It is telling ourselves how we value and take care of ourselves. Wearing something you love can raise your confidence and vibration when stepping into a new day.

Try baking: Baking is great for every season, but fall has got to be one of the best seasons for it. Homemade bread is extremely easy to make. It is only flour, water, salt, and yeast. You can also do seasonal baking, like pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, cinnamon maple rolls, apple crisps. Baking is such a nice way to celebrate the season. It is meditative, nourishing, and relaxing. Plus homemade goods are so much better for you than anything store-bought.

Light candles: In your home and/or workspace, try lighting some candles. Especially on cloudy days, or dark nights, it can provide a cozy and warm vibe. Although it can feel small, your environment makes a big difference on your mood. When you treat your home and work environment with care, you are also showing to yourself what you believe you deserve to be surrounded with. When you do those little things like lighting a scented or unscented candle, it shows yourself that you deserve those small beauties in life. It also romanticizes your home or workspace and makes it feel more magical.
