Stepping into September and Virgo Season
When we live with the seasons, September and Virgo season are all about finding structure, routine, and organizing our lives. It is the harvest season where our physical crops and the fruits of our labor come into full maturity. It is a time of abundance and reflection. Where we are coming out of the long, warm days of summer which rejuvenated our mind, body, and spirit. The earth begins to prepare us for the more inward, colder, and darker seasons, by providing for us an abundance of nutritional food. This is also a time where we prepare our minds, lives, and careers for the second half of the year. As the summer comes to a close, this is a perfect time to reflect on how we want to organize and sustain ourselves through the darker and colder seasons. We can use this time to declutter our lives of what is pulling us down, and focus on what is nourishing and meaningful. These are the things that will carry us through the darkness of the next season. Just as we stock up on foods for the winter season, we need to stock up on metaphorical food for the mind and soul. We can channel Virgo’s energy of organization, preparation, and discernment to make sure our life path is on the track we desire, and what needs to stay behind and not move forward with us into the next season.
In this workbook, we will use the Virgo archetype to help put us on the track of our dream lives and career, and how she can help us declutter and organize our lives, and look at it with a detailed, analytical eye that sets us up for success. We will also use the other goddess archetypes of this season, pulling from Greek and Celtic mythology. We will see which ones resonate with us and which ones have lessons for us during this season. They will teach us what we need to focus and work on during this season to manifest our goals, and find our abundance.
Included in this workbook, if you want to go deeper, are astrological dates to look out for, journal prompts, herbal and nutritional guidance that follows the season, activities and health tips for September, and affirmations that you can use.
This workbook merges the whimsy and ambition within all women. No longer do we have to only be corporate climbing, business-owning boss babes, or innocent and naive, field-frolicking girls. We can use our feminine power of intuition, magic, self-exploration, and wonder to achieve our ambitious and lofty goals in a way that feels natural, authentic, and true to ourselves. This workbook helps ambitious women who grew up in a hustle culture to use their connection to self and the earth to achieve a life that is not only purposeful in their career, but in all aspects to their being.
Intention Work
If you only want a small taste of this workbook, do only this activity with intention work as it is very powerful in helping you achieve what you want in your life
Intentional Tip 1: Focus on Organization, Cleaning, and Prep for the Fall Season
As we savor the last bits of summer, this is also a good time to begin the transition into the fall season with ease. The summer energy begins to slow down and soften. We may feel a bit fatigued from the activity and abundance of the summer. Virgo season is all about organizing, focus, and practical problem-solving. So this is a good time to focus on slower and gentler activities, like organizing our environment, work space, computers, hard drives, schedule, etc. Cleaning our homes, offices, studios, and bags. And prepping for the fall season, by managing our calendar, planning trips, planning days off, writing down projects, plans, and tasks that you are hoping to get done. We can channel our inner Virgo by honing in our expansive energy from the summer months, and focusing our attention on cleaning, perfecting, and organizing our business, tasks, and work for the fall months.
Task: Spend one focused day on organizing your business, calendar, tasks, career and cleaning your space.
Intentional Tip 2: Decide what is not going with you into the next season
Summer brings an abundance of many things; people, jobs, experiences, travel. As we transition into a new season, and using the discerning eye of Virgo, we need to decide what we want to take into the next season, and what needs to be pruned from our life. Virgo can spot the tiniest details in something and analyze whether it belongs or not. September is a great time to channel this Virgo superpower. We need to take a close look at our lives, jobs, and business and see where the clutter is. Do certain clients not align anymore? Are we taking jobs we hate only for the money? Are we wasting time on a task that can be outsourced? As we prepare for the darker seasons of the year, it is important that we let go of what is draining us, cluttering our lives, and not moving our business or career in the direction we really wish for it to go.
Task: Create a list, a spreadsheet, or simply journal on each part of your life and business; relationships, jobs, clients, tasks, finances, hobbies, and decide what is not essential to bring into the fall season, or can be outsourced to free up your time more. You can even give each area a rating from 1-5, 1 being “bad” and “5” being amazing, to see which areas need to be tended to in your life.
Intentional Tip 3: Reflect on the seeds you planted earlier in the year
We are moving into the season of harvest, represented by Demeter, the Greek goddess of agriculture and harvest, as well as Tailtiu, the Celtic goddess of earth and harvest. September is when we start to see the fruits of our labor from the past year, and begin to harvest what has come from it. Just as with crops, we can see which seeds that were planted earlier in the year were beneficial and brought abundance, and which ones brought scarcity. As we reflect on this, we can use Virgo’s non-judgemental, but discerning eye. We don’t beat ourselves up, but we stay honest and focused. We look at what worked and what didn’t. As we reflect on the past year, we can decide how we would like to move forward into the remainder of the year.
Task: Journal on what your life and business look like now. Take a look at where and when those seeds were planted. Are you happy with the outcome or is there anything you would like to change moving forward that can plant better seeds into the future?
Intentional Tip 4: Focus on the abundance you want to create
Spend time focusing on the abundance you would like to bring into the next season. Fall is all about harvesting the abundance from the last year. The crops mature, and give us what we need to go into the colder and darker seasons. We can also look at what we need to sustain us through the winter months. Maybe we need more time with family, more creative projects, more business connections or more rest. Whatever that is, we can use the Virgo season to pinpoint exactly what it is that we need for our nourishment and sustenance. We can use the precision of Virgo to see where we have scarcity in our lives.
Task: Spend 5-10 minutes visualizing what abundance right now means to you in your current life. Go through financially, socially, career/business, environment, lifestyle, health, routine. Don’t overly control the images. Just focus on what comes up and how it makes you feel. After you reflect, take a minute to either think or journal about how your life compares to what you visualized.
Intentional Tip 5: Take one clear step that adds abundance into your life
Virgo is all about structure and practicality. As we move into the darker and colder seasons, it is important that we take some sustenance for those times. Just as fall gives us an abundance of food to carry us through when the crops no longer can produce, this season gives us abundance in other ways as well that hold the exact same purpose. September still gives us the warmth and the light of the summer season, but reminds us that it does not last and we must cycle through the darkness to be renewed. Persephone represents the autumnal equinox and the return to this darkness. We can channel her energy of innocence by what brings a child-like excitement that we can bring with us while we descend into the darkness, and eventually renew in spring as a more enlightened and mature version of ourselves. Just as Persephone when she returned from the underworld.
Task: Refer to your visual from above. Write down only one very clear, and easy step that you can take to lead you in the direction of that abundance. It could be spending 10 minutes on a creative project every day, putting away $10 in savings every week, or spending the first 5 minutes in the morning without checking your phone or jumping out of bed. Make it clear. Make it easy. But make it something that makes you feel your abundance in that moment.
Intentional Tip 6: Do one thing to honor your health
Virgo is very health conscious, and September provides an abundance of opportunities to focus on our health before the change of seasons. The days are still warm and long. There are plenty of nourishing foods that are in season. Mother Earth is preparing our bodies for the winter where there are less opportunities for going outside, being active, and foods that are available to eat. So the fact that the Virgo archetype is very health conscious makes plenty of sense. We may have spent the summer busy with work, activities, and people. This is a good time to reflect on our health as we transition seasons and see where we can get slightly ahead as everything slows down.
Task: Reflect on your health. Either journal or just visualizing. Don’t be judgemental. Try one very small thing that you can consistently do for your health this month. Do not overwhelm yourself and pick only one thing. Maybe taking a 10 minute walk at sunset, or getting outside first thing every morning for a couple minutes, or taking a multivitamin every single day, or picking 3-4 fruits or veggies that are in season and eat one of them every day in September.

Archetypes We Can Work With in September:
Visualize: Where is one area of your life you want to grow or expand in?
Here are the archetypes that represent September:
Virgo (Astrology): Signifies purity, harvest, and practical service to others. Virgo is practical, organized, analytical, pays attention to detail, structured, and likes to bring order to chaos.
When To Call In: If you need more structure and practical solutions in your life, you can call in Virgo either as an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.
If You Resonate Most With Her: If you already feel the Virgo archetype is very strongly within you and you want to balance her more, then you need to remember to go easy on yourself. Know that it is ok to analyze and stay organized, but the chaos is where the opportunities and growth comes from. And the perfectionism you seek doesn’t mean you aren’t worth receiving love until you get there. You are already worth that love and abundance that you seek through being perfect.
Demeter (Greek Mythology): The maternal, nurturing, care-giver archetype. She is deeply loving and protective of the people around her. This could also include our business as we see them as our “babies.” She loves to give freely, like the harvest season that she represents.
When To Call In: If you are needing nurturing energy to either yourself, a project, or your business, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.
If You Resonate Most With Her: If you already feel the Demeter archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, then you need to remember you are worthy of receiving as well. Know that your worth is not tied only to your dependents, projects, and business. You don’t always have to be taking care of someone or something to be worthy of love. Giving that nurturing to yourself is just as important.
Persephone (Greek Mythology): She is innocent, open, and trusting to life. She is a maiden and the daughter of Demeter. She has not yet ventured into the subconscious mind or shadow work.
When To Call In: If you are needing more childlike energy and excitement for life or if you have been taking life too seriously, and need to be joyful and open to the world, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.
If You Resonate Most With Her: If you feel the Persephone archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, then you may need to go inward and reflect a bit on your own intuitive wisdom. You can trust that all the answers and guidance that you need is within you.
Athena (Greek Mythology): She is strategic, intelligent, and rational. She is very career-oriented, high achieving, and independent. Athena does very well in high stress situations and can find the order in chaos. She can be emotionally detached and cold at times.
When To Call In: If you are needing to connect with your ambition, intelligence, and finding rational solutions to problems, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.
If You Resonate Most With Her: If you feel the Athena archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, then you need to connect to your emotional and whimsical side more. You need to honor that your emotions and playfulness does not discredit your sharp intellect.
Tailtiu (Celtic Mythology): She is the Earth mother, gives unconditionally, and is the ultimate provider. She sacrifices absolutely everything for her children, or career, or business. She is very grounded and spends her life creating something of greatness that will outlive her.
When To Call In: If you are needing something outside of yourself to fuel your passion and find meaning in life, you can call in as either an archetype or as a Goddess being to guide you.
If You Resonate Most With Her: If you feel the Tailtiu archetype is very strongly within you and want to balance her more, then you need to remember that having a limit to giving is ok. You can give as much as you want, but if you are over-extending yourself and your identity is withering away, you won’t be able to actually give to others as much as you actually would like because your own reserves need to be replenished.
Exercises To Work With Goddess Archetypes:
Visualizations:
Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths in and out. Very clearly picture the Goddess you are calling in. If you want to imagine yourself as her, picture yourself as clearly as you can in the form of that Goddess. If you want her to guide you, picture her as clearly as you can as a separate being. Take time for her full form to appear. If you are picturing yourself as that Goddess, how do you act as that archetype? How do you feel? If you are picturing her as a separate being, what does she want to tell you? What piece of guidance can she offer you? Once you feel you have completed the visualization, you can open your eyes, and reflect on the experience. Think about what you can take from it. How can you channel that archetype in your everyday life to achieve your dreams? How can you use the Goddess’ guidance to feel safe and protected in getting what you desire?
You can use this exercise as often as you would like, and it may be very different each time. It shows you that everything you seek is within you, and what starts as a vision can be made manifest into the physical.
Journal:
Spend about 15 minutes journaling on the Goddess you are calling in or asking for guidance. Or if you want to balance an archetype, journal how you would like to find balance within you. Don’t overly control your writing. Let whatever flow onto the page as you reflect on the Goddess. The more open you are, the more the answers will appear in your writing. After you finish, read what you wrote and see if anything new clicks for you.
Ritual:
To go even deeper with the Goddess energy, you can do a ritual to bring her to life or to balance her. Rituals are very powerful because they are not mind only exercises. They include full sensory experiences to work with intention setting in the entire body and nervous system which will implant even deeper than mind-based exercises. Embodying the colors, aromas, and tastes of the Goddess helps to feel that energy flowing through you that you wish to channel. Go as full out as you want, by either putting on one accessory that represents her, or dress in an outfit that embodies her to you. You can do this either in a sacred place indoors or outside. Use a scent that represents your Goddess. Earthy, cleansing, or florals for Virgo; Dirt, grass, or grain for Demeter; blooming florals, pomegranate, and earthy for Persephone; Olive, earthy, or clean herbal scents for Athena; Deep earth, fresh wood, or grains for Tailtiu. Take a moment to breathe the scent in deeply. If you like to work with stones or objects in ritual work you can do so. You can also purchase a stone, bracelet, necklace, etc. that represents the Goddess you want to embody to carry the reminder with you; Blue Sapphire for Virgo; Peridot and emerald for Demter; Garnet for Persephone; Lapis Lazuli for Athena; Green Aventurine or Tiger’s Eye for Tailtiu. You can hold the stone or object and close your eyes as you visualize the Goddess clearly. Feel yourself embodying her and her wisdom. To close your ritual work, you can brew a tea that represents your Goddess to cleanse your system, clear away the old, and call in your intentions; White tea, green tea, or chai for Virgo; Barley or earthy tea for Demeter; Pomegranate, rose, or jasmine for Persephone; Olive leaf, Rosemary, or Gotu Kola for Athena; Chamomile, calendula, or lemon balm for Tailtiu. You can also use any of these tools daily to channel the Goddess archetype. Or even walk through the day with her energy if it resonates with you.

Healthy Lifestyle Habits For September:
Healthy habits are all the talk nowadays, but we need different things during different months for our bodies and minds. By living with the seasons, we can get a lot more out of these healthy habits.
Getting outside and in the sun often: Since the weather is still warm and pleasant, getting outside in September before the colder seasons is great for our mental health and immune systems. It is also good for our energy levels as sunlight gives us more energy and can reduce the amount of sleep we need for healing and rejuvenation.
Outdoor Physical Activities: Going to the gym is great for your physical health, but try doing physical activities outside as well. Like jogging, hiking, swimming, kayaking, walking, or outdoor yoga. This way, you can get fresh air and the calming benefits of nature as well.
Moderate, not overly strenuous physical activity: Since the days are still warm in September, but not too hot, this is a good time for moderate physical activity. We don’t need to do overly strenuous activity because there is still a lot of heat during this time that can induce sweating. But it is also not too hot, so this gives us a little extra energy for physical activity during this time. We don’t need to do a super long run or a really hard gym workout during this month. Those are better saved for the fall months when the air is crisp and the weather is more conducive to harder physical activity.
Matching your rhythm with the sun: Try starting your morning around when the sun rises (but let yourself sleep as long as needed), and more importantly, try to start winding down when the sun sets. Use warm, non-overhead lighting, limiting communication with others, and focusing on more calming activities or tasks in the evening to help your body settle down for the night.
Rest during the hottest part of the day: September is still technically summer, so the midday can still get hot. Our bodies can get physically tired and drowsy from high heat, so use this time for either a nap, a break, or a relaxing activity as a work break.
Drink lots of cool beverages: Try to stay hydrated with a lot of water, iced teas, lemonade, or other healthy beverages. The heat can dehydrate us quickly and a cool beverage can help keep us physically cooler as well.
Spend time without distraction: There is a sense of lightness in September as we come off the summer months. Usually our mental health is better during this time due to more sunlight and warmth. The comfort of others is always important, but during this month, it is a good time to sit with ourselves and reflect before we enter into the darker months where isolation can be felt more so during that time.
Cool water exposure: Take showers or go into water that is cool, but not too cold. The water can help our body cool down a bit in the hot temperatures, plus it is refreshing, cleansing, and can give us a boost of extra energy and dopamine.
Soaking In September (Enjoying the Last Month of Summer While Working Hard on Your Career):
Some recommended activities to enjoy the season and balance life and work
Getting outside often: Best times are when you wake up and sunset which will help regulate your circadian rhythm and hormones
Take a walk or hike in nature: Getting into nature in September helps to reset our nervous system and not take the warmth and greenery for granted as it will soon be gone
Getting into natural water: This will be the last month that it is warm enough to swim in natural water. Natural water is very cleansing. You can use the water with the intention of clearing negative patterns or difficult emotions.
Enjoy Meals Outside: If you have a busy career or business, you can eat your meals outside while it is still warm, so you can enjoy the sun and fresh air which is very good for your nervous system
Sit or lie in the grass and journal, read, or meditate: Being in contact with the earth is very good for calming our nervous system
Work Outside: If you can, try to work outside while the weather is warm and pleasant. Even if you are busy with work, being outside has amazing benefits for the nervous system.
Opening your windows to cleanse your space: Fresh air in your home is very powerful for cleansing it of old and stagnant energy. It helps sweep out stale air and toxins that can put an extra load on your immune system.
Spend one day doing a personal, creative project outdoors: Whether it is writing, painting, photography, videography, or any other creative venture, spend a day outside working on a personal project just for fun. Use your surroundings to inspire you. Remember that creativity is how our soul recharges and resets.
